Taver

We are located on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, in the Valtènesi region, specifically in Manerba del Garda. Taver, a dialect term for white hornbeam, refers to the plant that once overgrown the site that currently houses our Agriturismo and winery. The farm took shape in 1973 and now focuses on full-scale agriculture, from livestock to arable land, vineyards, and olive groves. Recent years have seen a management overhaul, and the olive oil mill has separated from the winery. Roberto Magri, a young Trentino winemaker, now manages and vinifies the current 7 hectares of vineyard and 3 hectares of olive grove. The seven hectares of vineyard are divided into four clearly defined parcels, each of which our winemaker takes great care to cultivate individually. Le Mosche, il Gardoncino, la Buca, and finally Bottenago are the names of the four plots, each with its own unique characteristics. In the vineyard, we aim to minimize the use of agricultural machinery except for strictly necessary operations (e.g., pesticide treatments and grass cutting), as we believe that human attention and energy are essential in the process of creating a quality, healthy wine that respects the natural environment from which it originates. Dry pruning, root removal, green pruning, shoot combing, suckering, bunch tip removal, leaf stripping, bunch selection, and finally the harvest: all operations are carried out strictly by hand.
